I love Curry. I love to watch the Warriors. I hate hype. The odd thing is that the Warriors are so good they don’t need hype. It’s real however. Look no further than the NBA schedule.

It’s not that the Dubs have played scrub teams. My own raptors put up a decent fight against the juggernaut. Lets step away from reputation and name values for a moment though. Here is GSW’s sked in terms of defensive efficiency through their 18 wins.

So far they have played the 29th, 26th, 29th, 17th, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 7th, 17th, 14th, 22nd, 12th, 23rd, 5th, 25th, 28th, 18th and 27th, “best” defensive teams.

Then you have to consider that the 7th team is the Pistons who are not even used to being a winning outfit yet. The 12th team are my raps who are not bad but not elite. And while the Bulls at 5th play decent D, they’re 27th in offence and not really a threat.

Not to take anything away from GSW, but the league knows what it’s doing. They don’t face the spurs till game 45. They don’t face the Thunder till game 50. Both West teams with lots of games to play as well.

They face Cleveland at game 28… if they don’t lose by then it will be one game after they break LeBron’s previous Heat’s streak. Do you think the league didn’t know that when it planned the game? Do you think they have this kind of streak to start if NBA schedules were made randomly? Probably not.

League clearly wants to help Curry get another MVP and hype the Warriors greatness as a team. Odd cuz it’s not like they need any help but if they can somehow justify 3 or 4 warriors as allstars that makes it easy to market another season.

What about their January schedule? The story will be about “everyone is starting to compete. What a wonderful league it is!” Starting Jan 18 they face cleveland, chicago, Indy, SAS, OKC, HOU, LAC, OKC, ATL, OKC, Bit of a different 19 game stretch. No way they’d win all those or have any such closing stream as they close of the season playing the spurs 3 times in their last 14 games. Not because they aren’t good enough to finish with 18 straight wins. But because the league simply doesn’t want them to.
